We Don’t Talk About Wisdom Anymore
Have you noticed that wisdom isn't something we talk about much in America?
How often have you heard people promote wisdom or being wise? Conversely how often have you heard people highlight being intelligent?
Did that spark a "hey, wait... that's right...."?
Many places you go, people highlight or talk about how good it is to be intelligent. Yet you almost never hear the same for being wise.
And to be clear. Intelligence and Wisdom are nothing alike. Even though so many people think they are similar or even the same.
Even our older generations are not referred to as having wisdom.
Even our society talking about aging only jokes about becoming wise as you get older.
It's a strange thing, but perhaps it's not that strange.
Wisdom comes from The Lord, not from books or studying or our own intellect. And that makes it a target in many ways. And that's not even including all the power hungry political activists that benefit from people seeking entertainment over seeking wisdom.
And what does The Lord himself gives us about wisdom?
“Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.”

That doesn't sound like modern day America, that's for sure.
- We worship attention
- We worship fame
- We worship knowledge
- We worship our own opinions
- America as a whole could care less about wisdom...?
Perhaps. But perhaps people do care about wisdom. Perhaps it's just our media outlets trying to get our focus on other things every hour, of every day, of the years of our lives.
Luckily we all understand the truth when we hear it, when we remember it. The hard part is continuing to remember, and continuing to tell our children that wisdom is valuable...
