The pull of life is real. Very real.

For example: When you are a married person, you are a married person doing married people things.

The same can be said about working a job: We are all focused on own jobs.

The same can be said about having a family: We are all focused on family things.

The same can be said about our politics: We are all focused on our political things.

The same can be said about our thoughts of retirement: We are all focused on our 401k.

Do you see the theme? The pull of life is real.

Which would explain the truth within 1 Corinthians 7.

But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. ... ... But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband.

The pull of life is real.

But go back to the Psalm:

“I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me!”

We are just passing through here to heaven.

Yet that pull is real. Perhaps it’s intertwined with sin? Perhaps it’s just the breath of life in us anchoring us to this life? We can all struggle and fight it, but eventually the gravity of life wins.

No matter how strong and faithful you are.

It’s always pulling you back to focus on life not heaven.

Do not be dismayed or anxious or depressed about that focus lost. But rather acknowledge the basic truth. It's in our nature, it cannot be overcome. Which means we just have to renew our fighting spirit each time.

Because we are on our sojourn through this life. It's our journey, not our destination.
