Perspective Is The Key To Happiness, But Not How You Think!

Perspective Is The Key To Happiness, But Not How You Think!

If I said "Perspective Is The Key To Happiness" you might agree... You might disagree... You might be confused... You might shrug and say "Never thought about it really..."

If you stop and think about it. What HAS made you happy, for more than an hour or a day?

But I want you to really stop. Stop and think.

The things or events that are coming to mind immediately. Did the happiness from last for weeks and months? Actually weeks and months, or did it disappear within hours or a day or two?

We often remember things making us happy. Because they did. But we often don’t stop and think how long it made us happy. It’s genuinely true that this thing, this event, this situation made us experience happiness. So it’s true that we found happiness from them.

But we don’t ever bother to remember that it was fleeting. We didn't wake up the next day with that same happiness feeling. It was a burst, a sensation, a moment for sure. But it did not persist, it did not last, it was temporary.

So now, taking all that into thought. What does give you a lasting feeling of happiness?

  • Not stuff
  • Not trips or sights
  • Not houses or land
  • Not cars
  • Not food
  • Not tattoos
  • Not comfort
  • Not achievements

Now you might disagree with me. But hear me out.

Have you ever met or seen someone who has nothing and they’re happy?

Have you ever seen someone in the middle of a horrible situation or pain, and they’re happy? They still have a sense of happiness in their attitude despite the pain or trauma they are going through?

How is that?

It’s not because of their life, their situation, their achievements.

It’s because of their perspective.
It’s because of their outlook.
It’s because of their way of seeing the world and what’s happening.

So this begs the question.

Are most of us mistakenly chasing the fleeting sensation of happiness and enjoyment that comes genuinely from so many things, but then disappears rapidly? Are we chasing it like we think it will be a happiness that will last weeks and months, even though when we stop and remember... it doesn't actually last?

Are we misleading ourselves down the wrong roads, while telling ourselves that it's the right road to happiness?
